Note that you must specify a valid server name for datasrc. If you're using Access workgroup security, you may not have rights to edit the data. Your field is updated with the return value of the function.
If the tables is linked, you may not have rights to modify the data on the backend data source. The database file is set to ReadOnly. Three methods are demonstrated.
